Blood of the King by Bruce Blake (book review)

I got my hands on this amazing fantasy book so here is the review for it

Story
A kingdom torn by war. A curse whispered by dying lips. A hero born against his will.

Khirro never wanted to be anything more than the farmer he was born to be, but a Shaman's curse binds him to the fallen king and his life changes forever.

Driven by the Shaman's dying words, Khirro's journey pits him against an army of the dead, sends him through haunted lands, and thrusts him into the jaws of beasts he wouldn't have believed existed. In one hand he carries the Shaman's enchanted sword, a weapon he can barely use; in the other he holds a vial of the king's blood, the hope of the kingdom. His destination: the Necromancer's keep in the cursed land of Lakesh. Only the mysterious outlaw magician can raise the king from the dead to save them all from the undead invasion, but can Khirro live long enough to deliver the vial?

Can a coward save a kingdom?

My Thoughts
I love good written epic fantasy and it can be hard to find a fantasy book that pulls you in and is well written and well developed. "Blood of the King" is one of the best new fantas books I have read in a very long time. As a reader you get pulled in from first page you are stuck until the very last page and there you feel like you want more, you need more.

The writing style is very nice and works good for this story and the writing style and the language helps to pull the book and the story forward and helps to deepend the story. A lot of modern fantasy uses a easy langauge when trying to build a plot and do not deepend the story or the language and it ends up with something not enjoyable. This book has a very well developed language where the author is not affraid to use the language to deepend the story. This kind of language who drives the story and is deep and evolved is something you see in older, greater fantasy and I am so happy to have found a book and soon a series that is new and so good and developed.

The characters in the book is typical and still uniqueue. They are there for a reason and drives the story in a good way. They are not cliche and even if thier roll in the story isnt always clear, it is easy to understand they, in some way is important even if it is just for a short time. I like the character development in the story and how we are readers get to know the characters.

In the end, this story is truly amazing and I really loved reading it. It is a fresh hardcore epic fantasy book that is one of the best new once I have read in a very long time. It has helped me to have hope for the modern fantasy specially when it comes to modern epic fantasy that is written for adults. This is truly a must read and a must have for all fantasy lovers.
