The Family Romanov: Murder, Rebellion, and the Fall of Imperial Russia - Candace Fleming (book review)

I am very interested in history and want to learn more and I thought reading a bit about Russian history and the Romanov family would be interesting. I also bought this book on sale.

Here is the tumultuous, heartrending, true story of the Romanovs—at once an intimate portrait of Russia's last royal family and a gripping account of its undoing. Using captivating photos and compelling first person accounts, award-winning author Candace Fleming (Amelia Lost; The Lincolns) deftly maneuvers between the imperial family’s extravagant lives and the plight of Russia's poor masses, making this an utterly mesmerizing read as well as a perfect resource for meeting Common Core standards.

My Thoughts

I thought it would be interesting to learn more about Russian history because that period of time was very brief in my history education. I was happy to find this book but I must say it was not as good as I hoped it would be. I feel like this is something for young adults more than for adults. This is not always something bad because it can make it easier to understand and learn but this was a little bit to easy and I felt that the language and tone was used to make the reader look stupid or something.

The story don't go into any depth in the story and the lived of the Romanov history and it really didn't give me anything new. Maybe this is a good read if you know very little, which I thought I did but after reading this I don't know, or if you are a young person who wants to learn about the Romanov family and a little bit about Russia during this time.

I am disappointed in this read. It was not my coup of tea. I was bored and had a hard time finish reading it but in the end I manage to do so. I also think the book gave me more questions than answers.

Ghostly Paws (Mystic Notch Cozy Mystery #1) - Leighann Dobbs (book review)

Read this cosy crime novel with cats a while ago. Maybe not the best book I have read but still pretty cute.

Middle age can be murder ...

At least that’s how it seems to former crime journalist, Wilhelmina Chance, whose near-fatal accident has given her a strange side effect ... she sees ghosts.

After a messy divorce sends her fleeing back to her hometown of Mystic Notch, nestled in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, Willa finds herself haunted by the tenacious ghost of the town librarian who insists Willa solve her murder.

Luckily, she has lots of help, including a quirky cast of small-town characters, the cat she’s inherited from her grandmother, and her best friend, Pepper, who claims her herbal teas can work magic.

But just when Willa thinks she’s discovered who the killer is, she finds out that things are not what they seem in Mystic Notch, and the case takes a strange turn that has Willa adding even some of her long-time friends to her suspect list.

Can Willa find the real killer in time to keep the magical balance in Mystic Notch on the side of good, or will evil prevail?

My Thoughts

This book was okay, it is a very interesting ghost story but I must say it took a wile to get into it and there where not much going on. I liked the cat aspect and the murder mysterious but I had a hard time to connect with the main character who seamed to be a bit lame.

Also there where stuff who didnt add up for me when I was reading so I wondered if there had been any beta and proofreading but I dont know. I think I will give the second book a try later on, and hope they will be better because the main storyline is interesting but it is lost in this story.

I would say this is an easy to read story and dont have that much depth and stuff going on. It is like Leighann Dobbs is trying to be Agatha Christi and fails instead of making it her own.

Played by Love (Soccer Romance): A #Played Novella - Rachelle Ayala (book review)

Time for another book review :)

Soccer goalkeeper, Jaden Sloup, has his eye on Ella Kennedy, a woman who won’t date jocks or frat boys. He dons a pair of nerd glasses and hugs a laptop to convince her he’s a techno geek, and she agrees to go to Las Vegas with him for a cosplay convention where his team’s playoff game happens to be.

Jaden must juggle sizzling in the sheets with Ella against a soccer match and hanging with his frat brother teammates. When a bully harasses Ella and challenges Jaden to a fight, he proves that even a goalie can score.

My Thoughts
I found this book very funny to read and part of me can recognize myself in Ella and how she is and acts. She is a character I have loved in other of Rachelle Ayals books and I then thought I would read this book and give it a go and to get to know Ella a bit better. When I did I realised I really like her and her way of life.

Jaden is a very interesting character that I, in the beginning, didnt know if he was a “good guy” or a “bad guy” but when reading I did fall for me and I did fall hard. I having a crush on this amazing guy. Is it possible not to like Jaden?

The story is absolutly amazing and really well written and well developed. It is strong and drives itself forward in a great way. I has some theme that may not be for everyone and that is something I do understand and respect but I absolutly love it and like that Rachelle try new things and new themes in her wrighting. It makes the books fresh and intereting and I dont get bored of reading her works.

If you want a different kind of love story, then I would suggest to give Played by Love a chance. Even if it is different, it is still awesome in so many ways. A truly great read.

My Thoughts

Book #1: Lies by Kathryn Jane
Really good read and the first book I read by Kathryn Jane. I am now curious and will read more from the author because this book really captured me and my interest. the book really drags you in and captur the reader.

Book #2: Chilled by Death by Dale Mayer
This is the third book in the series, which I didnt know when I started reading it. It is nothing wrong with it, but I hadnt read the first two so I did feel like I was missing parts of the story but even so, when I got over that and had checked out that this was the third book, I read it and liked it and will go back later on and read the entire series.

Book #3: The Rebel’s Redemption by Jacquie Biggar
A bit hard to get into but when I finally did, it turned out to be an really good read with a lot of suspension. The storyline is just perfect and amazing. I didnt want this story to ever end. If I would recommend ONE of the awesome storied in this boxset, this would be the one.

Book #4: Love & Deception by Chantel Rhondeau
A really good story that I read for the first time, a while back and really enjoyed and really fell for. I reread it and it is still a brilliant story with an very amazing storyline that is breathtaking.

Book #5: Broken Build by Rachelle Ayala
My heart broke and mended and with this book. Another truly amazing story from a truly amazing author and this book is well written and in many ways very different from Rachelles other books. But it is still an amazing book that I love.

Book #6: Night Shift by Silver James (Finalist in National Choice Awards – Erotic Romance)
This was a very interesting read and, according to me, the least interesting in this box set. But even if I do say that, it is not a bad book, because I enjoyed reading it, and it is a really good read but it do not reach the other books in this box set and I find this kind of wierd because I am normally a person who loves this kinds of books.

Bonus Book #7: Remember the Night (A Nightrider MC novella)

Really great novella that I really enjoyed. A perfect bonus for the box set to make it even better.

Broken Build (Silicon Valley Romantic Suspense) (Chance for Love Book 1)

So realised I didnt but up all my review the last days so time to put some new up again. I hope you will enjoy them.

hen a woman wrongs a man… can a man forgive and love?

CEO and founder Dave Jewell is about to land a huge deal. He doesn't need blood on his car, threatening phone calls, and Jen wrapped in broken code and blackmail.

A gang of thugs hunts Jen, and she takes refuge in Dave’s protective arms. Together, they must thwart a killer and rescue an innocent victim from their past. Love blossoms, but a damaging revelation points straight at Jen, threatening to tear them apart forever.

;My thoughts
This book really broke my heart and mended it again. There isnt much I can say more than WOW for this amasing read. Broken Build show how great Rachelle is as an author and how she can wright a lot of different kinds of books and still make them great.

This book is dark and violent and I do understand that there is a lot of people who do not want that in a romance but this is more than a romance book. Yes there is romance but this storyline is so much more, there is a few gaps and can be a bit hard to follow from time to time but I still enjoy reading the book and found that, even if it is violent and dark, it is still a book that is great. There is so many sweet romance books out there and this is not one of them but that DO NOT make it any less good.

I love how the story is written and how the story is told. I hope there will be more books like this from Rachelle because I enjoy reading great stories with other perpectinve and other things going on than we find in most romance book. This is a really good read.

Christmas Lovebirds: The Hart Family (Have a Hart) (Volume 1) - Rachelle Ayala (book review)

Third book review for the day is Christmas book called "Christmas Lovebirds"

If you love sweet romances (PG-rating), look no further than Rachelle Ayala's Have a Hart series. The Harts are a family of San Francisco firefighters. Their family motto is: Heart comes first.

Melisa Hart has a soft spot for her brother Connor's ex-best buddy, Rob Reed. Unfortunately, Rob slept with Connor's girlfriend and is no longer welcome with any of the Harts.

Melisa lends her pet lovebird for a Christmas Toy Drive, but a mix-up brings her face to face with Rob and his lovebird. Melisa is drawn into a whirlwind romance with Rob and discovers he hasn't told her the entire story.

Can two little lovebirds and Christmas cheer open Melisa's heart to giving Rob another chance?

My Thoughts
People who say you cant read Christmas books in the middle of the summer dont know me. I dont know if this is the forth or fifth christmas book I have been reading so far this summer. When it comes to Christmas book there is a lot of good and bad stuff going on but I found this story very sweet and heartwarming. I have read the second and third book before reading this and it answered a few questions I had of what had been going on before. This is a stand alone book but can of course also be read in the series with the other books.

What I like in this story is that Rachelle Ayala has taken love and mixed it with both animals and Christmas and she does it in a really good way. The title is also very great and has dubble meaning because the animal in this book is a bird. I do not like birds, I am afriad of birds but I do understand how people can love them and keep them as pets. So for that aspect it wasnt hard to picture the story but I did have trouble due to me being afraid of birds.

Even so, the book is not just about birds, it is also about love and Christmas and how hard and easy things can be at the same time. I really enjoyed the story and reading how a bird, and in this case, a bird on the run, can get two people together and realize they are meant to be together.

Rachelle Ayala show her brilliance when it comes to wrighting and this is a perfect sweet story you cant help but to love. A very well balanced and well written story that I will enjoy reading over and over again.

Claming Carlos - Rachelle Ayala (book review)

Second book review for the day is from Rachelle Ayala.

Choco Sanchez is stuck in a rut. She's never hit a softball and has been friends forever with Carlos Lopez, the head cook at her family's Filipino restaurant. When flashy restaurant consultant Johnny Dee hits her with a pitch, she falls head over heels and gets a makeover.

Carlos Lopez is not about to lose one for the home team. Johnny launches a full scale change on the menu, and Carlos sends him straight into the dumpster. Claiming Choco's heart proves more difficult, especially when her secrets threaten to doom their love. But never underestimate a man who can cook hot, spicy, and steamy, and we ain't talking just food.

My Thoughts Claiming Carlos is a very interesting and very well written book that got me captured in the first chapter, even in the first page more or less. I must say that once again have Rachelle Ayala shown how amazing she is when it comes to writing and making up good storied. I started reading this book and without knowing it, the book ended and I have no idea how that could have happened. This book was to good to be real and is one of my favourite books from Rachelle at the moment.

The story is so well developed and so real. As a reader you get into the story and get to know the amazing, and so life like characters and their love and struggle. Mind blowing and thrilling love story to say the least. I don't even know how to explain how much I do love this story. I still feel like I don't want the book to end, Why did it have to end? It was so amazing and I wanted more from it.

The book is hot, sweet and everything you can every imagine it to be. This is one of the best romance books I have read in a very long time and it is just amazing. A must read book for everyone who loves romance.

Box-set: Hotshot Alphas (book review)

So time to upload some of all the reviews I have to wright for books I have read during my vaccination.

Starting with Hotshot Alphas box-set

This is a perfect box-set with so many good books to just love and drool over. Some is more interesting than others but over all a very good box-set.

IN HIS CONTROL by Nina Bruhns: is a very great read who captured me straight away and I really enjoyed reading this story. It was very appealing and hard not to like.

HOT ON HER TRAIL by Sable Hunter: not my coup of tea, I couldn't really get into the story at first. I don't know why. The story is well written and interesting but it didn't capture me at all.

CLAIMING CARLOS by Rachelle Ayala: I have read this book before and really love it. It is very well written and Rachelle Ayala is one of my favourite authors and this is a brilliant book that is steamy and hot and really lovely.

LOVE & REDEMPTION by Chantel Rhondeau: By reading the description I didn't think I would like this story but I got into it straight away and really fell in love with it. a really down to earth, heartwarming, steamy read that is impossible not to love.

SHADOWS OF THE SOUL by Angelique Armae: This is a very amazing read that is different from most of the other books in this boxset which make it special and I must say that I will go back and reread it because it is really good.

THE DEAN'S LIST by Kelly Collins: - This is the second book in this box-set that didnt really capture me as well as the others and there is no real reason for it more than that it just didn't capture me and I I had trouble finishing it even if it do have a lot of things a good book needs to have.
