Mutation Z: The Ebola Zombies (Mutation Z #1) by Marilyn Peake (book review)

Started reading a series of novellas. this is not really a book but more shorter novellas. Like episodes from a TV series.

Story

First book in the series.

Ebola, one of the most feared of the hemorrhagic diseases, has begun spreading across the borders of West African countries. The CDC and the World Health Organization have admitted they are losing control over the disease. Some hint at a possible worldwide pandemic. At exactly this point in time, Emma Johnson graduates from nursing school. She takes a job in an Ebola treatment camp inside Liberia, West Africa. The camp is state-of-the-art. It's run by the CDC and the World Health Organization, and protected by the U.S. military. Emma uncovers a secret about this facility: medical experimentation is being conducted along with treatment. Whether or not Emma can ever escape the camp, she's determined to get the story out. She has intimate knowledge of a biological horror being secretly unleashed upon the world. NOVELETTE. GENRES: Apocalyptic Science Fiction, Zombie Fiction, Conspiracy Fiction, Horror.

Mutation Z: The Ebola Zombies is the first book in a series. In the next book, the zombie virus will cross geographical boundaries and go increasingly out of control.

My Thoughts
I am a sucker for zombie books and well this is not the best one I have read, it was entertaining.

First this is a very quick read and is read in like an hour, which made me a bit disappointed but sometimes you just want a quick read but due to it being quick, the story lacked behind a bit. I liked the whole taking of putting an innocent nurse from US into Ebola Africa(view spoiler). Hell Yeah I am up for that!

There is a great story behind it and it is a very tragic one which the author is putting out there. I like that and the nature of the horror in it. I dont know if it is thought that this book should be funny but most Zombie stories is funny, especially when they take themselves too serious. This one has a good tone and is partly serious and partly humour which I just LOVE!

Emma is really naive and sometimes stupid but I think a lot of people would be in her situation. I also like how she changed in the story (view spoiler)

I like the story for what it is, and it is a good first book. I will read the second one and hope it has a bit more story and a bit more backstory to it. This is a book for people who love Zombie books and want one even if it is not the best one. It is a good story for what it is, a quick read and it is kind of funny.
